Thursday, May 8 my mom went for her routine check up and MRI. The results were good again, and the doctors found no sign of the tumor returning. The fluid on her brain is even less than it was the last MRI was done. Our family is planning a trip to Disneyland this summer, so now we can go and really enjoy it.

My mom had her MRI today and the results came back good! The doctors found some liquid on her brain still, but it not in the location where the tumor was, and the doctors think it is left over from the radiation treatment. I can sleep well tonight.
Luigi and I traveled to Arizona for winter break. It was nice to have sunshine every day and temperatures in the 80's. My mom has been working with a physical therapist, an occupational therapist and a speech therapist. She has gained back some of the vision, hearing and mobility she lost from the radiation treatment. And as you can see in the picture of her sharing her Culver's lunch with Luigi, her hair is starting to really grow back. She is scheduled to go for an MRI at the end of March. Hopefully the tumor has not returned. In the mean time she is improving slowly and her spirits are better, especially when Luigi is around. She loves to feed him, and worries that when he is in Michigan with me that he is not getting enough food. P.S. Upon Luigi's return to Michigan he gain a little over a pound in one week! I just spoke to my brother and my mom's latest MRI came back with no signs of the tumor coming back! I can sleep easy tonight.
My mom has been in Michigan since September 18. She was happy to leave the 100 plus degree temperatures in Arizona, but now she is complaining it is cold!
We are having a nice time visiting friends and family. This past weekend we took a trip to Yates Cider Mill. Luigi is happy my mom is here so he has someone to nap with during the day when I am at work. My mom is coming to Michigan to visit, and get away from the 100 degree temperatures, September 18 to October 5. Luigi is looking forward to seeing my mom because she gives him lots of extra treats.
My mom had her MRI on Thursday, August 29 and the results were good! My brother and sister-in-law went with my mom to the appointment. They were shown the MRI images of her brain before surgery, just after the surgery, and then the one done on August 29. The doctors said it didn't even look like my mom had brain surgery at all. All of her blood work was good also. What a huge relief!
Now my mom just has to take 5 chemotherapy pills a month (for 12 months) and have an MRI every other month to monitor. Thank you everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers! They meant a great deal to my mom, myself and the rest of my family. |
