I know it has been awhile since my last post, but there is a good reason for it. My mom's cancer has returned. She went for an MRI on May 26 and four small pea-size tumors were found around the original site. Surgery is not an option since the cancer is spread out, so she is going to try a chemo treatment (pills) that she will take once every 6 weeks and see how that works. Right now she is staying with me to get out of the 100 plus daily temperatures in Arizona. We have been visiting family and friends when she feels up to getting out. Luigi is enjoying her visit and all the extra treats. Here is a picture of her and Luigi napping. |

Went to visit my mom in Arizona during winter break. She continues to do well with no sign of the tumor and any cancer returning. Here is a picture of my mom and Luigi going for a ride in the golf cart she has. Luigi loves this golf cart and if you open the door to the garage he runs to and hops in every time! Well, my mom has had enough of the cold weather and snow here in Michigan. She will be heading home to Arizona the Saturday after Thanksgiving. She hasn't been in weather this cold or seen snow for 20 years, and she said having to deal with it now she doesn't miss it. Although when I go out to Arizona at Christmas time, I miss the snow and it just doesn't seem like Christmas without it. To each his own I guess.
My mom will be returning to Michigan September 27 to November 9 for a fall visit. It's still hot in Arizona and she would like to get out of the heat. Luigi is very excited she is returning due to the extra snacks!
HOT! I am currently in Arizona with my mom. The temperatures have been over 100 degrees every day, and since it is their monsoon season it has been raining a lot the past few days. Arizona has had more rain in the past 3 days then it normally gets in a year! So the dry river beds you usually see are flowing with water. The added water has also made it more humid here, which makes the 100 degree plus temperatures worse.
In happier news, my mom went yesterday for her 3 month MRI check up. The doctors found no evidence that the tumor is growing back! Needless to say we were all very happy and relieved. My mom really misses Luigi. I didn't bring him with me this time because I knew we had some doctor appointments to go to, and errands to run while I was here. Not only does she miss his company, she misses feeding him. Luigi gained a pound or two while she was in Michigan. I'm sure he misses all the extra goodies also. Well, my mom returns to Arizona in a week. She is not looking forward to going back to the 100 plus degree temperatures daily that Arizona is still having. It doesn't cool down there until mid-October. She is also not looking forward to leaving Luigi. They go every where together, nap together and she feeds him A LOT! After our family trip to Disneyland, my mom returned to Michigan with my husband and I to get away from the 100 plus degree temperatures Arizona is having right now. Below you can see my mom and Luigi enjoying an ice cream at Culver's .
June 22-27 my family went to Disneyland to celebrate my mom being cancer free for one year. Below are a few pictures of my mom at Disneyland. She really liked meeting Captain America, she said he was "very good looking." It has been a year since the brain tumor was discovered and so far it has not returned!
