King Arthur Life Skills Bread Baking Project
On May 9 and 10, my second hour eighth grade Life Skills students participated in the King Arthur Life Skills Bread Baking Program. The program, which started over 20 years ago, teaches students about the science and techniques that are used in bread baking. Then, with materials provided by King Arthur Flour Company, the students worked in pairs to bake two loaves of bread. One loaf of bread the students shared with their partner, and the other loaf was donated. My students donated the bread they made to the Salvation Army Shelter located on Mound Road in Warren.
This was a wonderful community learning project for my students! I was very proud to see my students bake bread with the skills that they learned, and some added love. Plus, for two days my cooking room, and the entire building, smelled like "bread heaven." Please take a moment to check out our pictures below.
P.S. Some students were camera shy and are not pictured.
