On March 13 and 14, 2014 my first hour, 8th grade, Life Skills class participated in King Arthur's Learn Bake Share Program by first learning how to make bread from scratch, and then baked 15 loaves of bread that was donated to the Salvation Army Shelter on Mound Road in Warren.
The free Learn Bake Share Program has reached more than 190,000 students nationwide since it began in 1992, providing kids with a fun, real-world application of skills they’re already learning in school—math, science, reading, following directions, problem solving, and more. And they use their new bread baking talents to help people in their community. Click on the King Arthur Flour icon above to learn more about the program and get recipes.
My students had a wonderful time making the bread and the entire school smelled like warm fresh bread for two days. Please take a moment to see the pride, joy and love that was baked into every loaf of bread in the pictures below. I know this is an experience they will always remember!
